1987 760 - which volvo radios will fit in the dash? 700 1987

The radio on my original CR4021 radio cassette is not working, the cassette is. I am wondering whether to do the following:
1. Repair the faulty radio if possible.
2. Try to get a used identical unit, as I know it will fit in the dash.
3. Get a newer volvo radio cassette, possibly with cd. Does anyone know which volvo units will fit into the 700 dash. I have an oversized opening for the unit, plus a shelf below it, partly taken up by the cigarette lighter. I am wondering is the total space will accept a double din unit, and if so what are the mechanics of doing that in terms of a fascia adapter kit. Also, what do I do interms of wiring, I have a volvo amplifier and 4 speakers, with electric aerial.

Any help would be appreciated.
