Will a 'Cored-Out' or empty Catalytic induce a 2-3-2 Code?

Will a "Cored-Out" or empty Catalytic induce a 2-3-2 Code?

I had to drive my plugged 91 Volvo 940 Turbo 100 miles before I could get home and take a pipe and knock out the inside of the plugged catalytic.

After that I could barely get it to start.

I already have bought a new catalytic but I havent put it in yet. Thats because for awhile the car wouldnt even start!

- i swapped out the Air Mass sensor with no change in my problem.
- I changed my fuel filter at least twice since the incident, though I havent changed the fuel pump.

-- The biggest successful change I made was to remove the O2 sensor and unplug the ports on it. Until then I couldnt get the car to even run in limp home mode. Once I did this, the car runs, albeit in limp home mode.

Now that I got the car to run in Limp Home mode at least ,I am getting the 2-3-2 code.

Is it possibly because my ECU doesnt like the missing Catalytic (its still "cored-out"? Or is it because of low fuel pressure from the pump.

Tomorrow I will check the voltages on the O2 sensor...
