The brake line juntion on my 84 240 went bad. All of the brake fluid leaked out in about 2 hours. The only part I could find to replace it was a used one at a Volvo repair shop. The guy charged me $20. He handed me the part in a rag. I didn't really look at it until I was home and had the original one out. It had been leaking out of the sensor port. When I unwrapped the new (used) one I noticed the sensor was not even finger tight and had no o-ring. I took the sensor out and some rust-colored water ran out. I decided to try to fix my original junction. I screwed the sensor out and cleaned up the o-ring. I put it back together with the o-ring and some RTV. I have not finished the job yet so the RTV could have some time to cure before seeing brake fluid. A new junction is about $100 and I won't be able to get one in time for the weekend. Any thoughts? Is this going to work for any reasonable length of time? In driving 3 240's over the span of about 10 years I have never seen the brake warning light come on. Have you? I was thinking about just plugging the sensor port. What do you think?
