Trouble Code 1-1-4 900 1992

Dear Greg,

Good p.m. and may this find you well.

Here are some meanings for code 1-1-4:
- Transmission (A1, Mode 1) AW 30 - 43; AW50-42
1-1-4 = Program selector open-circuit or short-circuit to supply
- Fuel system (A2, Mode 2)
1-1-4 = A/C Control OK
- Combined Instrument (A7, Mode 5)
1-1-4 = Odometer manipul. time
- Power Seat (B6, Mode 1)
1-1-4 = Motor 4, faulty lead

Source: Volvo pocket data booklet - Cars: 700,850,900 (1991-1996).

My best guess is that the first definition is the relevant one (the last three likely would not trigger the "Check Engine" light). This code suggests an electrical fault in the transmission controls. A wire has come loose or shorted.

You'll need the wiring diagram for your model/year to find the wire in question.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook
