Drive Shaft problem 1800 1972

I have replaced the automatic tranny in my '72 ES with a standard pulled from a '73 ES that had been wrecked. I switched out the front half of the shaft and the tranny support. The problem is the tail end of the OD is too low and the shaft won't bolt up without dragging against the tunnel that goes beneath the drive shaft. I put in a new transmission mount. Could I have installed the wrong part? Should I just throw some spacers under the mount to push the transmission up a bit. Looks like it needs to be a good 1/2" higher at least.
