STARTING ISSUES 900 1993

Good day fellow Brickers, after installing new spark plugs, starter, brick will not start. After several attempts yesterday to start car, it finally started, engine was shaking violently until it settled down after about 10 minutes of idling. RPM's were 1000 then at start then down to 750. Drove it last night, no problems at all. When attempting to start this afternnon, nothing, you could hear it trying to turn over. It was turning but would not start. There was white smoke coming from under the air filter box and air hose going to the throttle body. I have had this car for 2 yrs and love it, I hate to get rid of it. It has 283k miles, NA wagon. Do I need a engine overhaul or taken to repair shop to have a diagnostic test performed? Thanks in advance.

Darryl
