upgrades to tow with a 240? 200 1993

Although I'm sure this knowledge exists in the archives, my feeble search attempts have failed to turn it up, so I'm hoping that you all will help me out on this...

My wife and I want to be able to start towing small loads with our 93 245 -- by small I mean open trailer with two motorcycles (+/- 1200lbs?), small uhaul trailers for moving, etc. The car has about 185K and seems to run excellently. It is an automatic.

What work do we need to do on it to make this a *reliable* option? (I really don't want to burn out the tranny -- if that's the inevitable end of the project, I'll go a different route.) The suspension needs to be redone anyway -- how should I do it? What sort of oil and/or tranny cooler is necessary/desireable? Are there standard hitch/tow kits, especially ones that can be essentially permament? Are there other issues that I have not thought of?

Many, many thanks in advance,

stephen
