steering is a little stiff 200 1990

I started driving my 90 245 for awhile because it does not get much driving time due to me driving my 92 745t. Anyways while i was driving yesterday i noticed that when i make left and right turns the steering tends to get stiff when i correct the steering.Hope that was not confusing. When driving straight the steering feels normal but when i turn, and after making the turn, the steering gets really stiff. Anyone ever had this problem? i did check the power steering fluid and it seemed darker than normal. How can flush the old power steering out of the system and put in fresh and clean power steering fluid? I hoping that this is not the rack going bad on me. thank yous for the help in this matter.
