hot start problems / fuel delivery? 700 1988

Please see my post here: http://brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=866407 to get up-to-date on the situation...

The battery wouldn't hold a charge, so I got a known good battery and put that in. Fired right up! Drove it around a bit, felt good. Parked it, ate dinner, came back out, and it wouldn't start again. I was afraid the same thing would happen to this battery, so I disconnected just it case the alarm or something was draining it slowly. So I took it to the local volvo shop to get the charging system diagnosed, and he didn't find a thing wrong with it. And he said everytime he fired it up, it started fine.

I drove the car, ran a few errands, and on the way back, it starts to "stutter" again. I get it home (thankfully), take it out of gear, and rev the engine a bit, and it died and wouldn't start back up. Called the shop and he said it sounded like a fuel delivery problem. Could that be related to the bad battery though? Or is it just a combination of problems?

Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

kristopher
