Speedo Needle - '89 K10042 200

Well...I finally started testing my own '89 Speedo.
When I measure the Resistance across the needle mechanism,
I get none which means something shorted out in the coil.
So, now my question is...is there a way of pulling out the
back mechanism without prying off the needle itself?
I did pry the needle off on a "test" Speedo but there does
not seem to be any way to connect it back up.

Any help would be appreciated.
