problem with vent channels after blower fan installation 200 1990

after scraping most the skin off my knuckles, and spending many ours cramped on the floor of the volvo, I finally completed the new blower fan installation. I tested all the suction tubes that control the different vent channels (i.e. defrost, foot, and recycle) before I started bolting the console back together, and everything worked great. The next day however, when I pressed the buttons nothing happened. As my dash was still in pieces, I could see the suction valves, and none of them were moving. I could see maybe one of them getting disconnected in the movement of putting everything back together, but I don't see how ALL of them would stop working at once, where do those hoses connnect to? I never found out.- anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking to find an answer?
thanks
