Aftermarket Stereo install - 760 speaker wire locations, behind radio??? 700 1987

So I am pretty sure the 760 has a Volvo amplifier somewhere behind the steering wheel... do the speaker wires come out of that and then back into the compartment behind the radio then out to the speakers?

I'd like to splice into the speaker wires after the amplifier but I'm not sure that the wires behind the radio (in separate connectors that seem to be coming back from the amplifier) go straight to the speakers or not????

thanks to anyone who knows this stuff ... I've only done simple installations so far compared to this one!
