Gentlemen,
Spent the day modifying my grill, removed then emblem and associated plastic, and replacing a headlight. I decided to replace all the bulbs in the front to complete the deal. After inspecting the bulbs and aligning the headlights I found:
1) that brake lights do not work when the head lights are on
2) the third brake light still works in this mode
3) the tail lights also work when the head light are on
I searched the archives and could find no specific reference to my drama. I will buy a palm sized voltmeter from my local autoparts place ($9.99 on sale) tomorrow to test the switch near the pedal. The fact that the thrid light works and the brakelights DO work when the headlights ARE NOT turned-on lead me to believe the switch is fine.
Also, it seems that the brake lights, when they do work, are not very bright. Maybe I should work, clean, & refresh the grounds at the tail lights and in other places?
Should I assume the red, bulb failure relay is bad... and score a used one (on the cheap) from a Brick Board parts friend?
Everywhere on my car all bulbs are new!!! Fuses where checked. They are all new & greased... and the contacts are great.
Any advice would be great, Thanks, Jon
