I was thinking...... If Volvo continued to make the 960/90 series cars, these cars would be perfected by now!.... by us!
This list has so much experience with these cars that by now, (IF Volvo followed this list or listened to us), they would be ranked right up their on the JD Power reliability charts with Lexus, Toyota, etc...
We all know the weak points of these cars and if Volvo still made these cars they could follow this list fix/upgrade/change the design/parts flaws like they did (to some degree) in the long run of the 240 series.
We all know about the following problems (and that if you own the car long enough, you will likely deal with most if not all of these issues). Of course by now we know many get arounds to try to avoid or prolong some of these componet failures.
- PNP Sensor location/failure problem
- Upper Radiator neck
- Door panel puckering
- Needing to use Synthtic Engine Oil and ATF
- Intake Manifold gaskets
- Sway bar links
- Frail Rubber suspension bushings
- Oil pickup tube O-rings (valve tap)
- $hitty vacuum bellows in the HVAC system
- Corroding evaporators
- Motor mounts
- Fuel gauge sending units
- Crappy cup holders
- Dissintegrating plastic sunroof guides
- Airbox thermostats
- Dissintegrating rubber vacuum elbows in engine compartment
(just to mention a feww off the top of my head)
Ask me how I know.
