Lack of Headroom 900 1995

my 1995 944 Turbo has a serious lack of headroom for the driver. I am 5'6 and my head is about three fingers from the roof. The headrest almost touches and I have powered it down as low as it goes. I have read the FAQ and will try the technique suggested, but still that only gains 1/2 in. What if somebody was 5'11 or taller? Doubt they could drive and I doubt a car manufacturer would limit a car to sub 6 footers, so what's the deal?
