Howdy all-
Thought I'd introduce myself as the proud new owner of a robin's egg-blue, 2-door '66 122S. It's in super solid shape, having originated on the west coast, with absolutely no rot whatsoever, B20 engine, Weber carb, the usual suspension mods, etc. Runs very nice and well loved and cared for by the previous owner. It has some minor exterior cosmetic issues and some interior issues that I'll tackle bit by bit over the next few months. It'll be a sparingly used daily driver at least for the next couple of years (living primarily in NYC means I don't need to drive very often), and maybe eventually when I leave the city I'll think about a full restoration. Looking for an affordable garage to keep it in (in NYC, yeah right!) so it doesn't spend much time outside. Failing that, I may put it in winter storage and just not drive it at all in the cold and wet months. My first order of business is to get the brakes to 100% (they're OK, but I know they can be better). Any tips and tricks on this? Do people ever fit a two circuit master cylinder to 122s? How about rebuilding kits for the cylinders, etc? Next order is new rubber and seals for the doors and the rear pop-out windows- any sources? IPD? The front seats are pretty sagged, but I see that IPD sells new webs for that. Eventually I want to get an overdrive tranny in the car, so I'll be on the lookout for that too. I'll probably be posting like a madman for a while.... It's all very exciting!
Thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure I'll need!
