Fuel sending unit replacement Q's... 900 1991

Hey folks, been a while since I posted! Anyhoo, my fuel sender is working, but is leaking at the top plate.

Are any of the fuel lines pressurized?

How should I go about catching any residual fuel in the lines when I disconnect them at the sender?

[I wish I had a pic for this one] When I'm in the car facing rear looking in to the 5"x5" access [panel for the sender, there's a small whitish nipple on the upper left that appears to be attached to a vaccuum line, but not attached to anything fuel-wise. It's just open, and looks like it should have a hose attached. Anyone know what this is?

In general, is there anything else I should know so I don't end up having to do the job again in the not-too-distant future?

Thanks in advance!

Chris
