Sluggish starter disengagement 200 1992

Hello All:

Lately my '92 245 has started exhibiting symptoms of sluggish starter disengagement-- after starting up there is sometimes a crunching noise that goes away quickly. It sounds as if the solenoid is not retracting completely immediately. This car has the late model 1.4kW starter. Are solenoids available separately for these things? Is this something that can be resolved by a cleaning/lubing of the starter? I want to get this dealt with before the snow flies here in London...
