Transmission noise 200 1991

Recently I put a new clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing and clutch cable in a 91 244. Everything buttoned up fine, the car shifts smoothly, etc. However, when the vehicle is running along with the clutch pedal all the way up, a whistling/chirping sound can be heard from underneath. By just touching the clutch pedal (maybe moving it 1/8"), the sound goes away. Depressing the pedal fully does the same.

When fitting the new cable I did allow the recommended play, so I don't think the cable is too tight. I've also adjusted it in both directions, but the sound persists. Any thoughts here?
