Hey, new here, but i've got a dead 1987 B23 w/stick and the usual broken odometer. First off i gotta say what i was doing to it when it happened.
I was buzzed from the bar and i was trying to get out of a parking lot. I was going into second gear and i popped the clutch a lil' and i can swear i heard
the car's death rattle from the last 10 rpms then POW. The car had just enuff momentum to propel itself to safety, but i was dead, and i knew it well.
This car is completely restored (despite it's history of being purchased and used in germany by a high ranking military personelle's wife and then sent to Pearl Harbor for a few yrs THEN to Texas) anyway
i've taken this car apart for the past 3 months in almost every direction i can and it STILL WILL NOT FIRE. I've checked the Fuel pump and filters, the fuel lines, the intake vacuum, the sparkplugs, the coil, fuses, the timing belt the timing... (discovered a blown Hi-Beam switch/relay)
but i came to the distributor and saw something odd: the rotor had somehow came in contact with the leads in the cap. The rotor contact point was scratched like i drug it on the concrete. So i replaced that and the cap as well.
WHat boggles my mind is that i have all three basic elements appearing to function (i.e. spark, fuel, air) All i need to know is how you get the distributor off (Damn Chilton) i've pulled and pulled w/o damaging the aluminum. Anyone know what i am talking about or been down this road? Cuz i sure as hell would like to get back ON THE ROAD!
I love this car, best thing i ever bought with a tax return check!!!
