Zenith vs SU 120-130

I have a 67 P210 that has the single Stromberg side draft(B18A), similar to the SU in concept. It is the original carb and hasn't been touched save topping up the dshpot in the 30+ years that Ive owned the car. I admit its a tad tempermental till it warms up, but after that its great...well, not great, but certainly OK.

I had forgotten that the camshaft was milder on the B18A and that dual carbs wouldnt go a long way to wake up that motor. Thanks for the reminder.

In time, the car will get a bored B20, to hopefully double its original 70hp. My orignial thought was to build a real performance motor with 42DCOE Webers and a "rallye" cam, but as I get older, my needs for performance seem to have waned. So I think a pair of HS6 SUs with IPD's street performance cam or equivalent will be the way I'll go, with a FI head. One of the biggest hassles with a P210 is its small gas tank, and not much room to go bigger, so a "really thirsty" performance motor doesnt seem like the prudent way to go...and being tall and narrow, it'll never be a car that handles well.
