Restoring rear emblems 900 1994

Hi

The family's 940 was recently painted and the VOLVO and 940 GL rear emblems were removed by the painters. They didn't glued it back on as they thought it was so awful and they didn't know how to restore them. The VOLVO isn't that bad, only the coating on the last O has faded but the silver colored coating on the 940GL is barely nonexistent. I do notice that the material of these emblems are different from my 740. The 940 are plastic whereas on the 700 series are metal and can be polished.

Any thought on how to restore these emblems? And what's the best adhesive to use? Thanks
