244 electronic ignition distributor 140-160

Since many of you have done the electronic conversion from a 75 244 to your points and condenser system, I figured it would be appropriate to post this here instead of the 200 series forum. I acquired the system from a 75 244 to be retrofitted into my 74 144. However, the guy who sold it to me said that it might have to be "rebuilt" since the shaft that spin is a little tight and squeaks a little if you turn it by hand. No play on the shaft, however, it is nice and tight. I have read that there is a piece of felt in it that should be kept soaked with oil. It is not visible from the top even after pulling the cap and rotor and the plastic cover beneath that off. How do I get oil there? And also, can parts from later 240s be used for the "rebuild"? Thanks for your input in advance. And by the way, does the distributor spins clockwise or counter clockwise on the motor?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
