Transmision fault light 900

I have a 95 volvo 960, and today I was pulling into my mothers driveway, and the up arrow for the winter mode *which was not on* started flashing, along with it flashing back and fourth between winter and econ mode. And now its driving like in winter mode. It is still running fine, if you like driving in winter mode all the time. I don't have a clue what to do, I flipped threw my chilton manual and it didn't say anything usefull.
I know there is a faq but I don't know how to get there *I am sure its prob in there*

Before you ask yes I did try switching threw all the modes, and I did try restarting it.
