The air filters were temporarily off while adjusting the SU's for the dropping temperatures. When blipping the throttle from idle a fine spray appeared to be coming out of the carbs. I assumed that this was a timing issue and backed off the timing just until the carbs stopped sneezing. The car runs fine now.

What else should be checked with spitting SU's?
