overfilled atf--how bad is this? 200 1989

ok, I think the shop overfilled my tranny when I had the rear tranny seal fixed. after driving home for approx. 6-8 miles on local street, I checked the atf with car in P and engine idling. the fluid on the "hot side" read a bit 0.25" above the top of that plastic part, which has the MIN/MAX on it (basically the fluid level touches the metal part of the dipstick. shop said it's about 0.25 qts. over but said it's not a big deal. they said there is a release valve that will seep out the excess atf. now I am afraid to drive my car untill I get this fixed. now I guess is a good time to do a tranny flush.

1. I really don't know how much the atf is overfilled by. will there be any adverse consequences, like blown seal or foaming atf?

2. should I drive the car knowing it has been overfilled with atf?

thanks.
