87 740 gle still stalling -Aye Roll 700

Hi Guys,Hi Aye Roll:
I posted a thread early Sunday morning, where I described a problem with my 87 740 GLE. Needle on Tach would first go up and down without the engine reving up; after that the car would stall when stopping for red lights and subsquently even while driving. Aye Roll sugested changing the distributor. I did that.It was all flooded with oil with the rings in very bad shape.New distributor, new cap,new rotor, new spark plugs, new spark plug cables and new Oxigen sensor. After all that and almost 400$00 later the car was rUnning fine, but idling at 1000 rpm
instead of 750/800. To my surprise I took the car for a drive and
1/2 mile later I stopped for a light and the tach needle starts going up and down again and the car stalls. I restarted it,drove home idled for an additional 5 minutes; It did not stall with idling but the rpms were always around 1000 even though the engine doesnt sound that fast...
It seems to me that I have not cured the original problem. Does anybody have any ideas of what to look at before I take it to a mechanic? PCV,coil, bad wiring somewhere?
Thanks for any suggestions.
