Tail shaft bushing and kickdown cable. 200

Tail shaft bushing...

I think that's what its called where the shaft comes out of the back of the transmission. Anyway, I'm leaking transmission fluid from there at a modest rate. It was fine when I put the transmission in the car about 1.5 yrs ago. I thought about just diong it then but didn't. Is it a pain in the butt? Any recommendations?

Kickdown cable...

I put an AT from a turbo into a GL. I found out way too late that the kickdown cable is too short. My choices are driving only in 2nd gear if its hooked up, or getting all the gears but shifting at about 2k and driving like grandma with it disconnected. My thought was to get a piece of cable from an old bike and scab that on. Any ideas about how to properly adjust it after that? Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Ben
