SEAT FOAM BANDAIDS

rebuilt/repaired front seats over thanks giving, didnt look at the brickboard faqs but maybe i can add one.

the passenger seat foam in the back was split so that the rail could be felt thru the fabric after pulling the cover off i pondered on how i could fix the split in the foam. i started out with some blue rtv in the cravas itself. the foam like any sponge readily obsorbed much of it but it doesnt cure real quick and i still dont know how the acids in the rtv may affect the foam itself. but then i had a brain storm (fart) ran (drove) to walmart fabric department in search of a backing material a female friend and i had a discussion about months ago in reference to its many applications. it comes in differing thicknesses i selected one i felt would conform to the shape of the cushion and still be quite strong. from there i went to the crafts department and found spray contact cement, also went to the automotive and paint departments because i felt the sprays in crafts may not be as industrial as the can i found in the paint department.

cut a peice of the 2$ fabricl backing material in an approximate size and shape to fit the area to be patched, tucked it into the rail opening in the foam to prefit the fabric. the rest is simple application of the spray contact cement (only to the area of the foam to be covered ) and then sprayed the material itself, waited a minute or 2 to set as per the instructions tucked that peice of material and smoothed it out. the front side of the foam is considerably easier as ther is no tucking involved. the seats never felt better. (actually at least since i bought tht car)
