intermittent alternator, again... 200 1988

I thought I fixed this with new brushes/regulator, no problem for 6 months until now. The dash trouble lights occasionaly flicker and/or stay on, dash guage showing 12V vs. 13-14 normal. Sometimes I can blip the throttle and get it back to charging, sometimes it does it on it's own.

I've been through the Archives and tried most everything. I've been lucky to have it act up in the driveway. Showing 12V at battery, with no amount of wire wiggling getting back to 13-14V. I went through the entire harness except under the belts, although this looked all great 6 months ago when I replaced brushes.

Tonight I measured voltage at the red + on the alternator, also 12V! This is the kicker that it's the alternator right? Yesterday my wife took the car to Les Schwab, and the battery and alt tested OK (of course this was w/o the dash lights on/low voltage happening).

I can't imagine it's the brushes already. I'll pull them out and look, but what else to check?
