Replacement Keys 200 1981

I lost my original ignition and trunk keys serveral years ago. I have copies that work fine. However, I have never been able to get copies of the copies to work well. I always have to back the key out a little to work. The keys look identical. The shoulders and all the notches seem to line up perfectly when I put them togather. Is it that everything has so much wear that I should just bit the bullet and buy all new locks and keys for the whole car?
