'Fuel pump relay terminal, high resistance' from Mr Haire's Quiz 200 1985

Finally got around to reading the answer for #2 in Robert's Quiz of early last week.
So why does high resistance cause lack of full boost? This seems to me to be a Go - No Go problem, either the relay is on...or off. If off then the pump would also be off, and then I can see lack of boost ie low fuel pressure.
I guess by high resistance, you mean so high there is no current flow through the relay and it never comes on, or from what you described, it comes on when cold but after a few minutes the connection gets too hot and it disconnects and the relay falls out (turns off) and the pump shuts down......
I would guess this would be a problem with even NA motors, with K jetronic.

This could be fun, anyone elsi got some quizzes.
