1987 240 DL - Alternator / Battery question 200

Hey all,

Here's my problem:

A few days ago my 87 240 started to crank slowly, but got started and things were fine. Gradually got slower and slower cranking to start....was going to take it to my mechanic on Monday...and of, course it won't turn over now....it is dead...not even clicking....only thing that turns on is the dash lights!

So, I tried to jump the battery, but nothing, which leads me to think it is the alternator? Am I correct. I checked the blade fuse and all other basic no start tips, but I'm pretty surer it is the alternator, or could it just be the diodes or leads to the alternator.

It is sitting at Canadian Tire and they will be looking at it tomorrow morning...I just want to have some info in case they try to suggest it is something different!

Thanks in advance,

Guinney
