just how easy is a coolant flush? 200 1989

is this a DIY job for a DIY neophyte? in a way it sounds easy, and I really want to do it instead of forking over some money for a job that many have said is easy. I went to the faq, but the info has it for the 900 series. I know my car is in need of a coolant flush because it has oily gunk in the res. tank from previous owner, and I have never flushed the cooling system since owning the car about 2 years ago. are there any special tools that I will need? I really don't want to buy/order any special tools or parts because I'd like to do it sometimes soon. I can get a garden hose, anything else? will I need to jack up the car? will I need to do some contortions to get at the drain plug? I won't be changing the thermostat because that was changed in the recent past. I just want to refill the cooling system with FRESH coolant.
