Broken cam gear ??? 140-160

Man... for starters, be glad your project isn't an old Jaguar or something... You'd have 10x the money in, and wouldn't even be close to breaking even. Neever would be. Nor will you with your 140, but you won't lose as much. Believe you me... I got both. And I'm a good bit behind on both.

As for your most recent troubles... My first check would be the distributor. Make sure the points havn't closed up. Make sure there isn't play in the distributor shaft. Either could cause what you describe, and both are common. Timing gears are usually an all or nothing deal. If it is timing gears, don't worry... the valves won't crash into pistons. Does sound like possibly a cam issue though...

Love your wagon. Take it out and haul a bunch of stuff home with it (when you get it running well again(. That's what they are for. You'll love it.
