Ignition problem in the Turbo 200 1982

Hi folks. The good news is, I'm picking up a new car tomorrow. 84 242DL with some fun parts, Virgos, IPD sways, strut braces, other cool stuff.

THe bad news is I undertook a small project tonight that turned into a large one. I was installing a very nice used windshield washer bottle, since the 82 245T didn't come with one. I guess cracking is a problem, and fortunately Bob Haire found me a nice one. Thanks Bob!

Well installing it wasn't too hard. There is a clamp on the side of the thing which also holds some of the wiring harness: the positive and negative battery leads, and the 2-wire harness from the distributor. I probably should have gotten it a little further out of my way first.

Anyway apparently I pulled on the thing a little too hard while trying to install the bottle. Now, I have no start, no spark. Great, I turned a running car with no washers into a non running car.

Done some checks and tests. No blown fuses, but didn't expect to find any. Fuel pumps run, by the way. The coil had 12V on each side (note I say had!) The negative side didn't seem to pulse, and that's what I'd expect if the dist wires got screwed up. I checked the harness from the dist to see if it had any insulation damage (a lot of the wires on this car aren't so good). Sliced half the harness open, no damage inside. Got the rusty screw off the dist, and removed the harness from the plug. Found corrosion in the 2 pin connector! OK, something... cleaned it up, tweaked the pins a bit so they're tighter, still nothing. Checked the coil wire to make sure it's not broken, it reads 2K or something, ok. The wires from the dist harness read 0.0 end to end. OK. I took a resistance reading of the dist, got 1.09K, and it changes as cranked. Seemed to go to a higher value. So *something* still happens in the dist.
OK, tried to test the coil, by grounding the negative side.
I did that in a quick and dirty way with a screwdriver. Now, I no longer have 12V at the coil. With - unhooked, I do have 12V. COnnect the wire that goes to the ignition module, I get 7V more or less. Changes slightly +/- 0.5 volt. Maybe grounding that was not such a bright idea. Hmm. I've taken the module out to disassemble and see if it's smoked.
Present status: if cranked, I get one spark when I turn it on, and the pumps run then shut off. I get another spark (again, one spark) and pulse of the pumps when I turn the key off after cranking.
