1993 960 timing belt - 3 hour job?? 900

I just purchased an exceptionally clean '93 960 with 109K miles. The timing belt cover warns to change it every 50K. With how well this car has been maintained, I am pretty certain the belt was changed 10-15,000 miles ago. However, to be safe, I called a dealer to ask if they could visually inspect the belt: he said by the time he visually inspected it, he might as well replace it (for $250). I thought I read somewhere that changing the belt wasn't a big deal . . . . comments? Thanks much.
