Adopted a 164 140-160 1974

Could be '73. I have not yet looked at the year/accessories differences as I've never looked at the 164, but will now! The original owner brought it with him from the Netherlands. My wife thinks it looks like a Bently, and that's good. She actually likes it more than me! The fuel filler cap is a chromed lockable external cap, not behind a flap. It's exactly as my 144 (my father fitted a lockable chromed cap when the riots started in South Africa in the mid 70's, out of fear of someone setting the car on fire!). The last owner just said it's 1974, and I haven't had a chance to check the chassis/ID number. My 144 has a steering coloumb shift BW35, the 164 has a floor shift BW35. Power steering, but no aircon. But the vents are in the dash, so not just the floor/defrost vents of the 144! It's got a nice large rev counter and clock. The major repair costs will be the seats and paint job, but there are hidden costs like all the hoses and I see the suspension bushes are almost falling out!

OK, time to go think about all the things I want to do with it...
