More of a general automotive question, but what are people's thoughts on radar detectors? Do you use them, and if so, which specific units? How do they affect your driving?

I do most of my driving in MA, NY, and VT, split fairly evenly between two and four+ lane roads. It's just that these pesky 50 mph speed limits in Vermont lend themselves to 20-25 over....
