240 automatic transmission fluid drain plug stripped 200 2003

Hello, my names Jpistos and I've stripped the tranny fluid drain plug on my 93 240 wagon (DUH)!. After years of shade tree service on 3 wagons, I can't believe I did it. I tried to remove it, but it just turns. I've read the FAQ and another post about using vice grips to pull down. Anybody willing to admit to this have any ideas/experience? I'm reluctant to get a junk yard pan due to the drain tube removal problem. Am I dreaming to hope vice grips will get it out, then maybe a tap to clean the threads and a new drain plug?
