91 740 Wagon - How to test the seat heater relays under the seat? 700 1991

Howdy, I am in the proces of fixing both non-heating leather seats.

According to the green wiring book, I have the "dual output" seats (without the thermostat and with a relay under each seat.)

I can measure 12v at the last wire connector (labelled 'I' in the wiring book) before it disappears under the seat pad, if I squeeze the relay (click heard and felt). After about 5 seconds, the relay clicks again and voltage goes to 0. I can repeat this, but the current never remains, only for a few seconds. I have inspected and resoldered the relay contacts as per the FAQ and see no broken or worn wire problem entering the relay.

A new relay from the dealer here is about CA $120. (ouch) so I want to be sure I need one.

Can anyone tell me if my observations prove that the relay is either good or bad or make a suggestions to a better test?

Thanks.
