highbeams not working 700

hi all,

look through the FAQ's and did asearch of the archives but did not find anything that matches what's happening. 88 744t 253k. Highbeam headlights are not functioning. low beams work fine. high beams IN THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS work fine but the seperate highs' themselves never come on. the relay clicks, even switched the relay with two spares and bought two new headlights and still nothing. Checked the connections at the headlights (before I put the new ones in of course) ans still nothing. The only thing I haven't done is to check the grounds. Does anyone have any suggestions? They would be much appreciated.
