paint rejuvenation 120-130

'66 122s.....
So, I've got the 'matched' paint on it's way (yeah, I don't doubt it won't really match, but hopefully close enough for a couple years until I get the whole shebang repainted...) to touch up the years of chips and dings. Anyone have any *specific* tips or tricks for rejuvenating the paint on my Amazon? I know it'll need a good once over with some polishing compound and I've found quite a few good websites with 'polishing and detailing' how-tos, might spring for one of those PC orbital polishers....
Anyway, any things to watch out for or whatever with a 38+ year old Amazon?
Thanks!
