Ideal Brick to buy?

I currently have a '92 240 with 155k which I've owned for 3 years. After a few electrical troubles (surprise surprise) its become a good workhorse. However, a growing family is making me think about getting a wagon with third seat. What I'm looking for is a recommendations on the besy Volvo model to target in my search. I'm looking for:

1) A wagon with 3rd seat as mentioned above
2) Somethink a little younger than my '92
3) Something with similar endurance to the older RWD's
4) Something thats still possible to work on without a Phd in electical engineering
5) Something with an interior that is a little less spartan/more modern than the 240 (not a must have but desirable)

Which model family 200/700/800,900 would fit the bill best?. I have the impression that the 900 series is the last of the 'true bricks' and that then models immediately after were a somewhat failed attempt at modernization with resulting decrease in longevity. The more modern cars are a differnt breed altogether being much more like all other brands?. I'm leaning towards to 940/960 turbo wagon or simliar but would welcome advice
