aluminum wheels 1985 240 sedan and '88 240 wagon 200 1985

I have an 1985 240 sedan that will be junked. I have a 1988 240 wagon that is good with two bent rims. They both have aluminum wheels that look identical except that the wagon has this pin on the hub that needs to line up with a hole on the wheel, the '85 rims don't have that hole,

1) Can I swap them?

2) What's the point of that pin?

Thanks
