Are new Volvos as durable as the older models?

I have been wondering what people's experiences have been with the durability of the newer Volvos - V70's, XC70's, etc. The 745 that I have and the 744 before it seemed to be indestructible, but I live in the Northeast where rear wheel drive can drive you nuts for several months a year and can be downright dangerous, so I have been considering a front or all-wheel drive wagon. I know that a 740 with 70,000 miles is basically new, but is that true of the newer models? Do they have the same longevity as the older bricks? Is this quality and durability still a Volvo hallmark? I would be curious to hear what people's opinions and experiences have been.
