Okey dokey. First, you need a phillips head and a flat head screwdriver. take off the two covers or trim pieces for the small 2" gauges on the right of the main cluster. Undo the screws on the left side of the gauge holes. On the far left of the dash, take off the knobs for headlights and dash lights. The headlight one is pretty tight, and you don't want to break your dash, so you will need to take off the felt padding on the underside of the dash, under the steering wheel. take off the black clips by turning them 90 degrees with a screwdriver and then pulling them out. After you have done this, hold the back of the headlight switch with your left hand and pull the knob off with your right. Since this is an '88, it should have rear foglights, disconnect that switch too. After you take off that stuff, take off the plastic trim panel that was behind the knobs. Unscrew the screws under it and take off the metal bracket. The back of the dash has a lot of wires behind it, so you might want to label it if you decide to take it out to replace the lights, instead of trying to reach through and twist them out, which is easier in my opinion. Anyway, after they are labeled (if you decide to do so), disconnect them. I don't remember if 86-93 have electric or mechanical speedometers, but if it is a mechanical, carefully turn the black knob to the left and gently pull it out. The dash can now be pulled out and the lights can be replaced. The speedo cable is very hard to put back, as well as the weird half circle and circle connections in the back. these took me about 5 hours. a mirror can be very helpful. It is usually easier to look up through the space where the felt was and reconnect the cable. reassembly is the reverse of removal.
Good luck,
Joe
