B20 motormount brackets in B16 car 444-544

Hi folks -

Thought I'd try the 'search' feature, but got an internal server error. Not knowing anything about internal servers, I figured I'd just announce my forgetfulness right here in public.

Today I put a 2130cc B20 into a 444. Sort of.

As this was happening, I began to vaguely remember some detail about motor mount brackets. Rather than bother thinking about what I wasn't remembering, I went ahead and lowered the boom. So. After the engine was almost right where I wanted it, I remembered (noticed) that neither the 122 nor the 140 style motormount brackets will work for one of these engines in one of those cars.

The problem is that I still don't exactly remember what I used to think I knew, so I'm left with a question. That is: Is there a motormount bracket that will work for exactly this (I don't think so); or, should I go ahead and fashion something up (this is what I think has to happen)?

Anybody know off the top of their head?

Thanks!

It's coming together, though slowly. I've enjoyed seeing V2 in its new glory and I've been just a little envious that my bright red 444 isn't anywhere near as together as Christopher's bright red 444. The holes for the tranny mount bracket are completely stripped. The driveline fought every inch of the way. Even with the driveline disconnected, the car doesn't want to roll easily (something's gone funky in the rear axle I guess). The wiring under the dash is a horrible mess. The wiring in the engine compartment is largely absent. All the parts I put into ziploc baggies before boxing them up have escaped their baggies and comingled in their various boxes. And it's raining and the garage is too small to hold 2 cars, 4 bicycles, 2 pairs of skis, 9 engines, 3 trannies, an engine stand, a cherry picker, a Vespa and a Guzzi and all the tools. Everything is in plain sight and I can't find any of it.

Really, this is pretty silly. And I'm having a ball!

Once the motormount thing is resolved, everything will make sense.

Best,

Cameron
