240 whine/whistle HELP! 200 1987

Hello All!

My problem seems to be a whistling, almost siren like sound coming from the rear(it seems). It's not the fuel pumps as I just replaced them and it's a totally different sound. It's not constant and seems to happen on acceleration and deceleration. At first I heard it while on a ride in the country with the radio playing in the background and at first I thought I was hearing the whine through the radio but, unfortunately that wasn't it. i went for a ride later and heard the same sounds and rolled down the window ( it's the first FREEZING cold day) and heard it loudly as I decelerated. Any ideas before I head to the mechanic?

The brick is my only car and has 108,000 Miles on it. I have been driving it for the last year ~ 11,000 miles.Prior to that it sat for 5 years.I have done ALOT of work to Bertha as I like to call her and plan on keeping her for a very long time if possible. Actually due to my financial situation I have to keep her but I think if I had the money for another car, I'd rather keep the brick.

Thanks in advance and have a Happy Holiday!
