Headliner Curse 700 1984

Have an '87 745 GLE. The headliner is just beginning to fall (aound the dome light, mainly). I am having trouble finding someone in El Paso, TX who will replace it correctly (main issue is the sunroof panel where the liner is also loose). I may attempt it myself and was going to order the kit from IPD or a place in Dallas that includes the 1/8th inch material BUT noticed that the liner in my wife's '95 940 is much thicker than 1/8th inch (most likely 1/4) and am wondering if anyone can confirm that Volvo started using a heavier and thicker fabric on the 940s. The 740 fabric is smooth; the 940 has a slight "nap". I have seen at least one 740 that was redone with 1/4" material. It looked good except that the trim around the sunroof opening was missing (I'm wondering if the thicker material kept it from fitting properly). Has anyone had any problems with 1/4" material? Also, has anyone done something else to address the sagging headliner curse (recover with vinyl, etc.). I remember reading where some folks just pull the liner, scrape the foam and paint the backer board. However, my car looks pretty good and I don;t want to do anything that will detract from it's appearance. Last, anyone know of a good place to get the headliner recovered in southern New Mexico, east Arizona (Tucson area) or west Texas...I'm not looking fwd to driving to Dallas or doing it myself.
